The CAO organization comprises more than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel
Job Summary:
This position is located in the Furnishings Department, Office of Logistics & Support (L&S), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The purpose of the Office of L&S is to provide important logistical services to the entire House community, including building, repairing, moving, setting up, and breaking down furniture; facilitating office moves; and managing all accountable equipment assets within the House. The purpose of the Furnishings Department is to build and repair furniture and install carpet and draperies in the House offices. Within the Furnishings Department, the Cabinet Shop is responsible for new construction of cabinetry and furniture and for repairing existing furniture in the offices of Members, Committees, Leadership, and support staff. This position serves as the Apprentice Cabinet Maker.
The position does not have day-to-day supervisory/managerial responsibilities
Primary Duties:
This is an apprenticeship position offering the opportunity to learn and develop a valuable and rewarding trade.
Support daily operations of the L&S/Furnishings Cabinet shop including but not limited to: Furniture repair, service calls, shop upkeep, safety, customer service and employee development.
Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only)
