This position falls under the general supervision of the VISN 9 CRH Mental Health Section Chief. A Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) is a repository of clinical and administrative staff that serve Veterans Affairs facilities within a Veterans Integrated System Network (VISN).

As part of the Geriatric Mental Health Consultation Program within the V9 CRH, the incumbent conducts mental health assessments, treatment plans, and psychotherapy to individuals, families, couples and groups in order to treat a variety of mental health diagnoses and disorders. Incumbents work closely with Primary Care, Mental Health and Specialty Care services throughout the VISN and within the Health Care Systems. Incumbent provides consultation services, short term interventions, and crisis intervention as needed for Veterans within Behavioral Health.

Clinical Functions: The incumbent must use a high level of skill in assessing and treating the complicated psychosocial problems of Veterans (Geriatric) and their Caregivers. Incumbent completes thorough psychosocial assessments when the Veteran is referred and will complete a thorough treatment plan when a Veteran engages in mental health services. Incumbent will provide psychotherapy with individuals, couples, and families, crisis intervention, supportive counseling, and referral for resources and benefits. Maintains high level of skill and expertise to establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans and/or their families. Independently works with Veterans and their families who are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems. Participates as an integral member of the Clinical Resource Hub VISN-wide Geriatric Mental Health Consultation Program treatment team. Actively participate through collaboration with Veterans and family, as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members, including but not limited to Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, Social Workers, RNs, Peer Support Specialists and Administrative Support staff, in the development and implementation of a treatment plan.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
