As a Supervisory Aviation Accident Investigator, GS-1801-15, you will perform the following major duties:
Serves as a Deputy Regional Chief (DRC). Participates fully with the regional chief in exercising managerial, supervisory and technical responsibility for field aviation accident/incident investigations within the region and for the development of safety recommendations to preclude the recurrence of these accidents.
Represents the Board in the assigned geographical areas and is responsible for promoting aviation safety through initiation of timely safety proposals and safety accomplishments.
Maintains currency with advancing technologies in the fields of aviation, accident investigation and office automation as well as technical knowledge in the field of aviation.
Investigates aviation accidents/incidents, prepares related accident reports, determines the probable cause and develops safety improvements resulting from aviation accidents/incidents.
Ensures the responsiveness and technical soundness of the programs and products in the area served meets the needs of the Office of Aviation Safety, and resolves technical problems that arise.
