The incumbent serves as the Deputy Commander, DLA Aviation. This is a Key Leadership Position (KLP) and selectees must have Contracting - Professional, Program Management - Advanced, or Life Cycle Logistics (LCL) - Advanced certification and meet all other KLP requirements prior to entering the position in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 5000.66. The incumbent must be certified at the highest level of the applicable DAWIA functional area and possess ten (10) years of acquisition experience in an acquisition workforce position with at least four (4) years performed while assigned as a CAP. Any deviation from KLP requirements can only be waived by the Service or Component Acquisition Executive as authorized by policy.

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has established a Drug-Free Federal Workplace Policy.
