Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA) is responsible for overseeing the Management and Budget clearance process, presentation of the Department of Justice views on legislation and legislative proposals to Congress and managing the Department of Justice's interactions with members of Congress and their staff. This position is responsible for the overall effort in assisting OLA's leadership in promoting and enhancing positive engagements and professional relations with the members of Congress.

The duties and responsibilities of a Legislative Specialist generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Prepares for Congressional hearings, including reading, reviewing, and analyzing a variety of legislative reference and information materials.
* Reviews transcripts to determine the need for additional information after the conclusion of testimonies.
* Prepares briefings for senior-level Department officials for meetings with members of Congress and staff.
