Monitors status of emergent and/or legacy missiles such as the Advanced Cruise Missile (ACM), Air-launched Cruise Missile (ALCM), Conventional Air Launched Cruise Missile (CALCM), Long Range Stand Off Weapon (LRSO), subsystems and special equipment.
Uploads, downloads and cross-loads weapons to launch gear. Resolves maintenance problems in accordance with technical guidance, reviews publications for accuracy, submits applicable improvement reports and performs periodic inspections on weapons or Alternate Mission Equipment (AME) and submits deficiency reports. Observes proper procedures for the handling, use and disposal of hazardous waste materials. Performs maintenance on electronic equipment and coordinates maintenance activities. Uses and monitors use of test equipment, both manual/automatic checkout, to check integrated missile, subsystems and related electronic equipment.
Installs and removes missiles. Stores, handles, transports, inspects, assembles, disassembles, maintains and modifies missiles, Alternate Mission Equipment (AME) such as launchers, pylons, ejector racks and associated test and handling equipment. Troubleshoots and maintains test sets. Stores, handles and transports missiles and associated equipment. Inspects, maintains and operates vehicles and munitions material handling equipment used to transport and handle weapons and components.
Examines recurring malfunctions, assesses software deficiencies to determine testing voids, and initiates corrective actions by submission of Quality Deficiency Reports, Software Deficiency Reports and proposed modifications. Modifies and updates B1-B, B-52 and B-2 weapons system support equipment technical publications. Analyze program data and determines it the criteria is sufficient to provide adequate testing and troubleshooting. Devises repair procedures based on findings and recommends program changes, or data corrections to correct software deficiencies. Recommends revisions to intermediate maintenance directives.
Complies with missile, explosive and general safety requirements; weapons systems safety rules; and technical order procedures. Inspects, audits and maintains high security locks, keys and code modules. Maintains and operates Use Control equipment. Assists in performing operational checks on facility alarm systems. Performs escort duties. Performs weapons inventory, accountability, reporting and verification procedures using the Defense Integration and Management Nuclear Data Service (DIAMONDS).

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-02 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-05-GS-08 in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience is work as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment. This experience must have included the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions. Experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, or similar functions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Possess a comprehensive knowledge of one or more software-controlled missile test stations and their peripherals, test equipment, self-test programs, electronics, and technical data containing schematic diagrams, signal and data diagrams, test procedures, program information and mathematical formulas to identify and isolate malfunctions and determine if a malfunction exists in the program, the UUT or the test station.
Possess a thorough knowledge of the interactions of the electronic systems that are interfaced with the test station or aircraft weapons system interface which includes extensive knowledge of emergent and/or legacy air launched cruise missile weapons systems to aid in troubleshooting unique test failures and anomalies (ACM, ALCM, CALCM, and LRSO).
Technical knowledge of computer machine language and programming principles.
Skill in inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, installing, functionally testing specialized standard and nonstandard/modified systems, components and accessories, and maintaining high performance test modified weapons systems.
Skilled in the use and maintenance of measuring instruments, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, signal generators, digital, and differential voltmeters, test stands, special test equipment and cockpit instruments and gauges.
Skill in maintaining applicable maintenance records, modification packages, and automated records.
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Ability to follow oral and written instructions; read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to the aircraft and munitions trades.
Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, repair and modify B-52 AME and associated test components.
