This position is located in the Defense Legal Services Agency (DLSA). The General Counsel (GC) of the Department of Defense, who is appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate, is the Chief Legal Officer of the Department of Defense (DoD) and performs such functions as the Secretary of Defense may prescribe. The General Counsel is also dual-hatted as the Director, DLSA, which provides a full range of legal services to the Defense Agencies and the DoD Field Activities.
