To qualify for a Firefighter (Paramedic), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. For current and former Federal civilian service employees, to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. For all other applicants to qualify for the GS-09 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-08 grade level or equivalent in the military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements but the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Drug-Free Workplace: The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has established a Drug-Free Federal Workplace Policy. Position Designation: This position is considered a "Primary" position within the firefighter Special Retirement System. Major duties are the control and extinguishment of fires and the use of firefighting apparatus to prevent loss of life, minimize fires, and protect property and the environment. Other duties include; emergency medical treatment, hazardous materials mitigation and specialized rescue response.
Medical Exam: Individual must complete a pre-employment and an annual medical surveillance exam IAW DoD 6055.05-M.
Maximum Entry Age: This position complies with the statutory requirements of Title 5, United States Code, by limiting the maximum entry age to 37.
Mission Essential: This position has been designated as a Mission Essential position (e. g., snow emergency days, holidays, increased security periods, national emergency). This position cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission. Assignments may be performed at any job site within the organization.
Other training requirements that must be obtained within two years of employment and maintained: Emergency Vehicle Operator, (EVOC), Driver Operator - Aerial and Driver Operator Pumper.
Participation in a physical fitness program during duty hours is highly recommended.
