A Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for a Federal employee when the employee must move, as directed by the National Park Service (NPS) either through a management directed reassignment or selection for employment, to a different location at least 50 miles away from the one where his/her position of record held at time of selection is currently located, due to a need of the NPS. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another.
Physical Demands: Incumbent must be able to lift, push, pull and carry a variety of tools and equipment. Must be able to handle 50 lbs. unassisted and 100 lb. sacks of chemicals and chlorine cylinders with assistance. Does considerable walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stretching, climbing, crawling and working in confined spaces and tiring positions. Light to moderate effort is necessary to turn valves and controls.
Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in all types of weather, with temperatures ranging from 125F degrees or higher in the summer to 15F degrees in the winter. May spend a considerable amount of time driving a government vehicle to different water systems. May be exposed to cuts, scrapes, infection, and possible bites of poisonous and nonpoisonous insects. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals. Incumbent is exposed to constant noise, rotating machinery, dirt, grease, chemicals, oil and fumes in the work area and is subject to have to follow prescribed safety practices and equipment. May work in all types of weather conditions, including long periods of exposure to extreme heat, wind, and sun.
Telework: The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
