Duties
- As Chief, Police/Provost Marshal Division, is technically and administratively responsible for the law enforcement operations at a medium garrison within the Installation Management Command (IMCOM).
- Serve as advisor to the Director, Emergency Services (DES) or Deputy (DDES) and Garrison Commander (GC) on all law enforcement issues and related programs
- Develop law enforcement programs and operating plans for the installation and is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing the operations of the division.
- Advise top-level installation managers on police department issues impacting them and develops acceptable solutions to problems.
- Make periodic on-site inspections of police patrols and activities.
- Identify problem areas and makes necessary changes in policies and procedures to correct deficiencies and to meet short and long range objectives.
- Direct and supervise the law enforcement staff directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors performing the various police functions.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) you must report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Must sign DA Form 5019 acknowledging both pre-appointment and periodic random drug testing requirements.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- This position requires the incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
- This position requires the incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
