Duties

Help
  • Apply natural resources management principles in various ecosystem types (i.e. restoration, botanical, wetland, and invasive species) to ensure long-term maintenance of environmental quality, enhancement of native species, and biotic diversity.
  • Make recommendations on natural resources (i.e. range, soil, fire, plant, wetlands, and vegetation management) to modify or mitigate proposed actions to eliminate or minimize impacts to natural resources.
  • Review proposed organizations actions for potential impacts to sensitive plant and wildlife species and their habitats, sensitive habits and ecosystems, and other sensitive natural resources.
  • Plan, develop, and implement natural resources/land management studies, rare plant surveys, vegetation classification, vegetation mapping, and habitat restoration projects.
  • Evaluate impacts of a wide variety of anthropogenic and natural events (e.g. facilities development/maintenance, recreational activities, fire, drought, etc.) in order to provide solutions to habitation restoration plans.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing work that involves developing and implementing habitat restoration plans with any of the following - soil restoration, ecological monitoring, or rare plant monitoring

Education


Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

A. I have a Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position

OR

B. I have a combination of education and experience with Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education

To qualify for this position through education substitution, applicants must meet the positive education requirement shown in A above and possess:

3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
