The CC Department of Laboratory Medicineis divided into six Services: Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Phlebotomy, and Sterility which provide both research and clinical diagnostic support to both in-patients and out-patients at the NIH. The clinical testing areas of DLM are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Education of laboratory professionals is a component of DLM's mission and to that end both a clinical rotation for Clinical Laboratory Scientists and two fellowship programs, one in Chemistry and another in Microbiology, are supported by laboratory operations.
