Duties
- Serve as the Lead Traffic Investigator and subject matter expert for traffic collision response, investigations, reconstruction and traffic management operations.
- Utilize specialized equipment and procedures while conducting traffic collision response, investigations and reconstruction.
- Prepare traffic accident investigations and technical reports of investigative findings.
- Exercise search and arrest authority to detains witnesses and apprehends suspects.
- Responsible for Field Training of all newly assigned Law Enforcement personnel.
- Serve as the Lead Police officer on assigned shift.
- Conduct investigations on criminal cases by analyzing facts to identify suspects and develop case information.
- Enforce the laws of the United States, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), and applicable local regulations involving persons and property.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. The position requires that selectee obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Successfully graduated from the US Army Civilian Police Academy (USACPA) or complete within one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 (The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program). Prior to appointment you must agree in writing to adhere to these conditions of employment.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
- This position requires you to pass the record Physical Ability Test (PAT) within 30 days of being hired and annually thereafter.
- This position requires the selectee to qualify annually for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) as explained in IAW 190-56, Chapter 3.
- Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. In accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85, a DA Form 5019R (Condition of Employment) must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- Incumbent in this position is designated as mission essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) during Inclement weather conditions or other designed / identified emergency conditions.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- This position requires an initial and periodic medical / psychiatric evaluation.
- TDY travel is occasionally required.
- Successfully graduated from a DOD, Federal, National or State approved Traffic Management and Collision Investigation (TMCI) course or complete within one year of hire date.
