You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience preparing documents (such as Environmental Assessments or Environmental Impact Statements pursuant to NEPA or other laws or regulations, study plans or reports, research papers, or license or permit applications) that assess the effects on outdoor recreation, land use, and aesthetics issues (such as boating, whitewater rafting, kayaking/canoeing, fishing, shoreline management, public access, facility adequacy, satisfaction, or competing resources) from existing or proposed infrastructure (to include but not limited to dams, levees, surface water intakes, canals, flumes, water and wastewater treatment systems, storm water retention and control, constructed wetlands, hydropower projects, roads, pipelines, airports, solar arrays, windfarms, fossil fueled generating plants, nuclear plants, commercial fisheries, agriculture, and aquaculture).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
