As Supervisory Radiologic Technologist, the incumbent has the responsibility for planning, developing, and directing the General X-ray, CT, and Ultrasound operations and support staff of the Radiology Service, for the purpose of providing imaging studies in the Radiology Service facilities on station at VA SORCC. These services provideĀ· direct patient care and have a significant impact on the ability of other units of VA SORCC to provide timely, appropriate, and quality healthcare to Veterans.

Major Duties:
a. Directs the technical imaging services and programs that support outpatient and residential care at VA SORCC. Plans and coordinates work to be accomplished by General X-ray, CT, Ultrasound, and support personnel. Sets and adjusts short-term and long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of assigned tasks.
b. Oversees work of general Radiologic Technologists (3), CT technologists (1 ), Medical Instrument Technicians [Ultrasound] (1 ), and radiology clerks [MSAs] (2).
c. Assigns work based on priorities, consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and capabilities of employees.
d. Evaluates and directs work performance of subordinates.
e. Decides on emergent, costly, or controversial training needs and training
requests for Radiology employees, for Service Chief approval.
f. Analyzes organizational, technical and administrative problems, and develops and implements solutions that result in efficient service operation.
g. Evaluates technical imaging contractors' work to ensure quality and standards compliance.
h. Makes decisions on work-related problems presented by facility supervisors, administrators, facility team leaders, similar personnel, and contractors.
i. Provides advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both clinical and administrative matters.
j. Develops new policies and guidelines as needed.
k. Demonstrates skill in problem solving and conflict resolution.
I. Follows established Quality Assurance (QA) guidelines and protocols to insure integrity, availability, authenticity, and confidentiality of imaging data transmitted by the various modalities.
m. Manages, implements, and analyzes clinical and administrative computer packages of the Radiology Information System within the Radiology Service. This includes:
i. Setup and management of package parameters related to computer applications within the facility.
ii. Development of training plans and materials.
iii. Review of the data entered and validation of the information.
iv. Development of automated methods for data extraction.
v. Effective analysis and use of data to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity.
n. Functions as PACS Administrator for the Radiology Service.
i. Serves as the point of contact for all VA SORCC staff for Radiology functions related to clinically-oriented PACS and VISTA packages.
ii. Develops the means to extract data from PACS and VISTA and present it in appropriate format.
o. Evaluates new products and equipment, making recommendations to the Chief of Radiology concerning upgrades or new purchases that would improve operations.
p. Informs higher level management of anticipated staffing variances and informally recommends promotions, reassignments, or other personnel changes such as retention or release of probationary employees, and recommending recognition of superior performance in the Radiology Service.
q. Performs duties of a Radiologic Technologist, in General X-ray or CT, as needed to fulfill Radiology Service functions.
r. Incumbent must be professional, cooperative, and able to work with other employees.
