Production Operations Assists in overall media production and in the development of presentations for in-person events, webcasts, hybrid functions, and media hits. Robotic camera operator, video switcher and audio engineer for in-house television productions, managing live event encoding and uploading to website for livestream. Primary responsibility for operation and maintenance of webcasting systems and media file management. Configures and operates encoding servers for video archive, supporting social media and video sharing. Lead technician for event setup and operation of various types of equipment. Maintains a constant awareness of daily event schedules to provide hands-on AV support and/or confirm that staff and contractors are ready for each event and that all systems are tested and functioning.
Video Editing Works with multimedia production team and contracted support technicians to prepare video content for the web. Assures content is posted within the timeframe established by the supervisor and/or program. Uses video editing software Adobe CC, web content management systems and digital file archive hardware and software. Collaborate with program staff to establish a Wilson Center brand for special productions and projects that will highlight program and scholar presence.
Production Facilities Works with Director and Supervisor of Broadcast AV Production to execute best practices for AV network management and operation including production storage systems, audio, video and photo archives, videoconferencing, and other Internet Protocol (IP) aware systems. Provide primary preventative and emergency-based software and hardware maintenance on computer production systems and video editing workstations to assure functionality and compliance with IT policy requirements. Utilizes video production switchers, Pan-Tilt-Zoom, (PTZ) cameras, professional audio, Digital Audio consoles, routing Dante networks and Network Device Interface, (NDI) streams, lighting systems, storage servers, media asset management systems, signage systems necessary for broadcast and AV production. Routes and manages Dante audio and NDI video over the AV LAN network between systems including: robotic cameras, camera switchers, and Tricaster production systems, audio devices and production monitors. Still camera maintenance through service contract with Canon USA. Tracks service requirements to assure equipment is available when needed. Operates high availability storage systems for video production, Media Asset Management systems and Linear Tape Open, (LTO) archival systems. Reviews and coordinates bandwidth management, uni- and multicast traffic and troubleshooting common Audio-Visual Voice over Internet Protocol, (AVoIP) issues.
AV Team Operations Continually advances and updates training on software and production techniques. Proactive in training on existing Center systems to advance department goals. Maintains storage area, equipment and supplies, keeps inventory tracking system updated and helps keep production facilities organized and event-ready. Makes informed recommendations to the AV director and Supervisor on equipment purchases, system configurations, and production procedures.
To qualify for this position, you must meet the Selective Placement Factor (SPF): Dante level II certification or higher, and specialized experience requirements described below which will demonstrate your ability to perform the major responsibilities of the position.

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars was established by an Act of Congress in 1968 as the national, living memorial honoring President Woodrow Wilson. The Center provides an essential link between the policy and ideas by promoting initiatives that explore current and emerging challenges confronting the United States and the world.
