Since 1916, the National Park Service (NPS) has been entrusted with the care of the special places saved by the American people. With the help of our employees, volunteers and partners, we safeguard these special places and share their stories with more than 318 million visitors every year. Soon after parks were established, a generation of NPS landscape architects and designers set out to design roads as experiences, not just transportation routes. In the process they transformed national parks, the fields of landscape architecture, engineering and design, and the nation. Today, over 5,000 miles of paved roads traverse the national park system, including parkways. Today, the men and women of [PPFL] continue to carry on this legacy.
Our work doesn't stop there; taking care of the national parks and helping Americans take care of their communities is a job we love, and we welcome your help and support.
