Reviews, analyzes, and validates financial information submitted by insured state nonmember banks, national banks, and trust companies. Such information is contained in electronically filed Reports of Condition, Reports of Income, Summary of Deposits, structural data submissions, and other data collections.
Analyzes tax-related data included in Call Report and verifies that income tax calculations are consistent with GAAP and IRS rulings.
Reviews complex financial transactions for conformance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), utilization of proper accounting methods, and appropriate presentation in the Call Report.
Advises appropriate Division staff of any unusual situations, problems in resolving complex financial reporting and accounting issues involving banks in his/her caseload.
Performs ratio and trend analysis; evaluates disclosure statements for information regarding changes in accounting methods, business combinations and/or other relevant facts.
Conducts discussions with a wide range of bank officials, accounting professionals, and regulatory personnel both domestic and international to confirm the accuracy of reported financial data.
Provides advice on accounting, capital markets and/or trust matters related to the Call Report to financial analysts, senior bank officials, accounting professionals, other FDIC personnel and other regulatory agencies.
Implements formal plans and programs designed to correct mathematical errors, deficiencies and inconsistencies in the Call Report data; and obtains formal commitments from bank officials to revise the Call Report as appropriate.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG-11: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-09 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience working in at least one of these areas: (1) bank reporting requirements, (2) the bank examination process, (3) capital and money markets, (4) assessing economic conditions impacting financial institutions; or (5) analyzing the banking industry to identify economic developments that could affect insured institutions.
OR you may substitute education as follows:
EDUCATION: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with a major study in finance, business administration , economics, accounting, insurance, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position.
OR COMBINATION of graduate level education as described above beyond the 2nd full year of graduate education, and specialized experience as described above, that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
CG-12: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-11 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience working in at least one of these areas: (1) resolving accounting and capital market issues, (2) identifying economic developments affecting insured institutions, or (3) compiling and supplying information for studies and/or policy decisions related to financial institutions.
CG-13: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing mathematical and statistical calculations, resolving accounting, and capital market discrepancies; making recommendations for corrective action; compiling and providing information for examinations or studies related to financial institutions.
