Position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.
Incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
Must be certified in the handling, transportation, and disposal of Regulated Medical Waste or be able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
Required to lift up to 45 lbs. and wear a respirator in the regular performance of duties.
This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
Occasionally works outside in adverse weather conditions. Required to wear Personnel Protective Equipment.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
Must be certified by completion of a National Certification Exam offered by American Hospital Association Certification Center (AHA-CC) or able to obtain certification within one year of hire. OR/AND
Must be certified by completion of a National Certification Exam offered by American Society of for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES) or able to obtain certification within one year of hire. OR/AND

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). BASIC REQUIREMENTS --

Education:

Undergraduate Education: Major study -- chemistry or biological sciences, sanitary science or administration, institutional sanitation or administration, hospital administration, hotel administration, public administration, business administration, or other fields related to the position.

Graduate Education: Major study -- public health or business administration with emphasis in hospital administration.

Experience: Experience in two or more of the following areas, or other work related to the position to be filled:

Experience that demonstrated a practical working knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry, biology, and bacteriology as applied to environmental sanitation, infection control, and to the choice and use of antimicrobial agents in the disinfection, sanitization, and/or sterilization of surfaces and equipment.
Experience in laundry and linen management.
Experience in interior design management.
Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of waste management, including the requirements relating to hazardous, toxic, and infectious wastes and provisions for their final disposition.
Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of pest management, including alternative methods of control and the selection and application of chemicals.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Experience assisting in the planning and implementation of medical housekeeping environmental services. 2) Conducting sanitary inspections of medical facilities and 3) Advising on hospital housekeeping and environmental sanitation.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.
If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.

Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions.
Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250.
