(1) On a regular and recurring basis during shift operations. Leads three or more mechanics performing maintenance on assigned air munitions, missiles, and munitions handling equipment inclusive of the following: maintains and repairs assigned missiles, operates, repairs, maintains and calibrates missile test equipment, receives, identifies, inspects and stores conventional aerospace munitions, etc., inspects, maintains, and reconditions conventional aerospace munitions and handling equipment, assembles and issues conventional aerospace munitions, posts entries on applicable maintenance and inspection records:,anti preloads missiles or launches and/or delivers to aircraft loading areas.
(2) In addition to performing the same tasks as those led. The incumbent monitors the work of assigned technicians, passes work assignments on as directed by supervisor, ensures that proper materials, tools, and equipment are available: ensures full utilization of personnel and completion of those assignments within established time frames, and advises supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delay, and overall work operations, problems, and individual performance.
c. SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE:
Exercises journeyman level ski11s of the Ordnance Equipment Mechanic occupation in performing a variety of troubleshooting, detect isolation, and repair processes related to complex ordnance equipment and multi-component devices composed of interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic assemblies and components. The work requires application of sound judgment in selection of repair techniques and achieving specified accuracies and tolerances and skill in the use of all precision measurement instruments common to the trade. Ability is required to independently interpret and apply requirements contained in blueprints, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and other technical documents.
d. RESPONSIBILITY:
The Munitions Maintenance and Storage Section Foreman provides assignments in the form of work orders, inspection reports, or verbal instructions. The incumbent has responsibility to lead other workers in performance of assignments. He/she is expected to select tools and repair parts and otherwise carry assignments through to completion referring only unusual and difficult problems to the foreman. Work is subject to spot checks upon completion for acceptability and adherence to instructions and established standards. The incumbent utilizes technical orders and manuals and
manufacturer's specifications, factory engineering bulletins and standard operation procedures as guidelines in accomplishing the work.
e. PHYSICAL EFFORT
Work requires standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Some work is performed in a sitting position. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Lifts equipment and components weighing 20-50 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds.
f. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is both inside and outside in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, workstands and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, engine noise, explosive munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices, fire or explosion of lubricants, paints, and solvents.
