This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 13 months. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Applicants will be evaluated on the following:
1) Academic accomplishment (Ph.D. preferred) in Physics, or closely related field(s) is preferred;
2) Demonstrated potential to teach undergraduate introductory calculus-based Physics courses in the USMA curriculum;
3) Ability to serve as a thesis advisor or mentor for cadet research projects and ability to serve as role-model for cadets;
4) Ability to develop research and work with external research partners like the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency;
5) Ability to contribute to faculty development, service and Academy governance.
