This is a summer internship for full time Juris Doctorate (JD) students after completion of their 2nd year of Law school, and evening Juris Doctorate (JD) students after completion of their 3rd year of Law school. The Office of General Counsel (OGC) will not recruit students who have not completed their 1st year of Law school coursework as evidenced by a transcript (official or unofficial).
The candidate selected for this position will:
You must meet at least two of the following minimum qualification requirements by the beginning of the upcoming spring semester.
Pathways Program Requirements: You must meet all Pathways requirements.
Graduate students must have a most recent semester and cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or its equivalent.
You must be in good academic standing (you must not be on academic probation).
You must remain enrolled at least half-time to continue to be eligible for the Pathways Internship Program.
In addition to the Key Requirements above, you must also currently have and maintain a semester and cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or its equivalent.
You must meet at least two (2) of the eight (8) minimum qualification criteria.
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Students must be currently enrolled in an accredited law school program. Students must be eligible to graduate from law school in 2026.

This position is located in the Office of General Counsel (OGC). OGC's mission is to provide legal advice and counsel for the Director and the Corporation on all legal issues confronting the Corporation. This includes providing comprehensive legal services relating to PBGC’s ERISA programs involving ongoing and terminated pension plans. The office represents PBGC in litigation in all courts relating to ERISA functions and bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings, provides legal advice and services to support negotiations, settlements, and internal operations, and makes recommendations concerning the initiation of litigation.
