Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience serving as an organizational ombudsman, dispute resolution specialist, conflict management specialist, or third party neutral that works with individuals or groups to resolve conflict, mediate disputes, and ensure fair processes; addressing and facilitating the resolution of organizational or workplace issues and concerns while promoting a fair, open, and productive workplace environment; collaborating with senior management in developing solutions to organizational issues including those related to human capital programs, processes, and procedures.
