This announcement is open to current students in college, trade school or other qualifying educational institution.
The Student Trainee will have the opportunity to apply their background in foreign languages,
regional studies, international relations, political science, history, business, economics, or finance to DFC's advancement of U.S. foreign policy. Key responsibilities will include:
- Using related steps, processes, or methods, monitor and analyze political and economic
developments in countries in which DFC operates, including for DFC leadership.
- Inventory, aggregate, and narrate DFC's investments, especially to prepare for engagements with foreign governments and key stakeholders.
- Register, escort, and otherwise welcome visitors.
- Set up, attend, and take notes in meetings. Write and circulate readouts that capture the
key points and follow-up actions coming out of those meetings.
- Draft tweets and other social media posts.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Salary will be based upon the locality pay areas, as defined by OPM, and will be adjusted based upon the selectee's duty location.

The option to work out of the DFC's office in downtown Washington, DC is available to candidates who are interested. Stipulations of Employment: The duration of an excepted service appointment in the Pathways Program is a trial period. Appointees must sign a Participant Agreement that sets forth the expectations for the Pathways Program. At the successful conclusion of this program, the agency may non-competitively convert individuals to a term (position lasting 1-4 years with an extension up to 120 days) or permanent position within the competitive service. Conversion to a Federal competitive service position will be at the discretion of the agency and is neither guaranteed nor implied.

The Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed.
