About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Facility Swimming Pool.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Scheduled hours will be 0-40 per week. Must be able to life and carry objects weighing 75 pounds or more.

Assists Outdoor Recreation Manager with executing the seasonal learn to swim program for this facility. Prepares lesson plans IA W certification guidelines. Prepares marketing requests and after-action reports for programs at this location. Inspects pool equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with AF Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), public health and fire prevention mandates. Reports damaged equipment to the lead lifeguard or ODR manager. Provides swimming lessons and instruction at various levels of ability to groups or individual adults and/or children. Instructs patrons on rules and procedures for safe swimming. Describes the use of aquatics equipment to patrons to include proper positioning, correct techniques and safety procedures. Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Enforces pool rules with customers. Ensure that the swimming area is open to patrons at the scheduled times and that authorized persons only are admitted to the area. If certified, may perform water rescue and emergency response IAW lifeguard certification and facility emergency action plans. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health
conditions, inclement weather conditions, and closes pool until safe conditions prevail. Performs opening and closing procedures IA W activity policy. Assists in the set-up and tear-down of facilities and equipment for events/programs. Performs other related duties as assigned.
