This position is located with the Combined Support Maintenance Shop (CSMS) in Phoenix, Arizona. Responsible for supervising workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing the work of the function. Plans work operations of great scope, complexity, and administrative authority. Determines the sequence, priority, and time for the performance of particular operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits. The constructed occupation and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Allied Trades, WG-3401-10.
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
Military Grades: W-1/WO1 - W-3/CW3
Compatible Military Assignments: Must possess 91 series MOS
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman working level knowledge, must possess at least 36 months experience as a supervisor or work leader which demonstrates that the candidate can plan, direct, and organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to use all types of hand tools, and measuring equipment related to this occupational series. Experience demonstrating the ability to set up and operate machining tools and using hand tools to make repair parts, tools, gauges, models, patterns, mechanisms and machines. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

Ability to explain work requirements, methods, and procedures to a variety of dissimilar occupations.
2. Ability to plan the use of subordinate workers, managing their work and leave schedules, on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis and provide management with workload data, estimates of completion, and recommendations to facilitate more effective management of maintenance operations to support customer units.
3. Ability to set performance standards, establish deadlines and priorities, plan work assignments, communicate work expectations, and make formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.
4. Ability to effectively train, implement and ensure employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity and with state and federal regulatory guidance pertaining to Occupational Safety and Health and Environmental Protection.
5. Ability to instruct subordinates on new procedures or methods within the Allied Trades and provide assistance on difficult or new problem areas.
6. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with employees, coworkers, and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful and economical accomplishment of the mission.
7. Ability to coordinate work with supporting shops controlled by other supervisors, plan work assignments, and establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences based on work schedules, unanticipated work, operational needs of customers, and policies set by the supervisor.
8. Ability to project workload, recommend scheduling for projected work, ensure equipment, special tools, personal protective equipment, and materials are available when needed, and implement corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors.
9. Ability to effectively, efficiently, and economically manage maintenance workload, ensuring work in progress and completed repairs meets established procedural standards and is within scope of priorities and supervisor instructions.
10. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to include proficiency in using computers and office productivity software.
