GS-12: You qualify for the GS-12 if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as Developing and modifying policies and procedures as it pertains to new HR initiatives. Conduct detailed evaluation on the status of HR policies and ensures that program requirements are incorporated in all aspects of the HR planning processes. Research, analyze, and evaluate a variety of HR trends and issues. Establish timeframes for accomplishing program objectives. Identifies potential solutions to long-term critical or unyielding problems; prepares detailed recommendation for improving/streamlining operations; formulates alternative approaches or courses of action; and prepares memoranda, correspondence, position papers, and other material.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
