The Voluntary Internship Program is an unpaid internship program. Working under the direction of NARA staff, interns will be exposed to a broad spectrum of work and opportunities across various offices, records centers, libraries, and museums. Fall internships will begin in September 2024 and will last for 12 weeks. Participants must complete a 100-hour minimum requirement.

U.S. Citizens who are: Students currently enrolled in accredited educational institutions from high school to graduate level OR Former students who have graduated from an accredited educational institute or certificate program within the past three years.
Voluntary Interns' duties will depend on the NARA office or site to which they are assigned. NARA seeks students in various areas of interest to complete internships at our facilities throughout the country. Internships will last roughly 12 weeks, averaging between 10 to 40 hours per week for a minimum of 100 hours. Fall interns are expected to work on-site at least 70 percent of the time. Interns will collaborate with their supervisors to determine their work schedules.
