Summary

About the Position: Provide a variety of cooking and food service support; to facilitate the preparation of foods within a medical treatment facility. Assist higher graded cooks in preparing regular menu items and special diet requests. Cook raw foods, grills and prepares fresh fruits and vegetables according to safety guidelines, rules and regulations.

Duty Hours: Rotating shifts, weekends and holidays. 1st shift 0630-1530.

Duties

Help
  • Pick stock, fill requisitions and processes supporting expenditure documents, moves and assembles stock, re-warehouse provisions and accomplishes day to day planning for space utilization.
  • Use manual or mechanized equipment to move, stack, bin, and position materials and equipment.
  • Process, handle, and store of materials, and equipment throughout the supply facility.
  • Receive, store, and assemble for issue, shipment, and distribution, a wide variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, equipment, and commodities.
  • Organize, arrange, and remove stock in storage areas in accordance with established procedures to prevent damage, deterioration, and loss.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex Materials Handler duties within an organization. I am skilled in unloading, transferring, palletizing and breaking down as necessary. I can be responsible for documentation screening and verification of quantities of subsistence and non-food items received. I can verify quantities received against receiving documents for accuracy. I can refuse overages and document shortages. I can report discrepancies for adjustment of menus placed. I can reject receipts of items not acceptable due to damage, quality or other reason. I can move supplies by means of handcart, dollies, pallet jacks or other non-mechanical means - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require them to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Maybe required to work at a rapid place for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing 25-50 pounds or heavier items with assistance.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside warehouses, bin rooms, open storage areas, receiving and shipping areas, which may be cold, drafty, damp, or hot.
