As an AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-10 (TITLE 32) you will, conduct loadmaster training to ensure worldwide capability. Perform preflight inspection of the interior and exterior of the aircraft, to include engines, fuselage, and control surfaces for mechanical and structural soundness.
Prior to flight, accomplishes preflight checks, inspection, acceptance, and operation of all aircraft loading equipment, and systems. Develop and certifies cargo load plans considering quantity, weight, configuration, floor capacity, compartment restrictions and proper location within the aircraft to achieve the optimum center of gravity. Brief passengers on flight itinerary, use of emergency equipment, emergency exits, and procedures for egress, oxygen use, life preservers, electronic devices and movement about the aircraft before, during and after flight. Perform other Duties and assigned.
Military Grades: E-4 through E-9
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience in functions such as preparing aircraft loading plans, loading and offloading aircraft, operating loading equipment, and ensuring security of cargo in flight.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1 year at the next lower GS level or 1 year experience planning and directing the loading distribution, arid securing of cargo in aircraft; conducting classroom and flight training in aircraft loading. Instructing and evaluating the performance of Aircraft Loadmasters in their assigned aircrew duties, to perform in-flight aircrew duties, and to perform related staff work assignments; the duties performed are specifically covered by the GS-2185 Aircrew Technician Series, which includes all positions the primary duties of which are to perform, instruct, or supervise flight crew work, particularly (1) flight engineering work supporting the operation of heavy multiengine aircraft, (2) controlling and operating aerial refueling systems aboard tanker aircraft, and (3) loading, positioning, securing, and offloading cargo in transport aircraft.

Flight crew position is located in the Air Operations Group of an ANG flying wing assigned heavy Ulti-engine transport aircraft with a basic crew configuration of one pilot, one copilot and one loadmaster. Aircraft are equipped with advanced flight management systems that enable the pilots to fly the aircraft without the assistance of navigators or flight engineers. Position is primarily responsible for providing ground and flight training instruction for developing, upgrading, and evaluating the skills of loadmaster aircrew members; assisting the pilot in the operation of the aircraft; performing loadmaster duties on assigned missions; and accomplishing related staff work. Enlisted crewmember is assigned significant additional preflight, in-flight and post flight duties. Missions assigned the unit include the airlift of equipment and personnel, combat airdrop, medical evacuation, polar operations, search and rescue, firefighting, special operations, combat aircrew training, formal school, and counter drug intelligence and reconnaissance.
