Who May Apply: US Citizens
This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 3 years. Appointment may be extended in one- to five-year increments thereafter. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
Qualification Requirements:
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position; or Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field; or Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the Qualification Requirements above, applicants will be rated on the following:
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be rated on the criteria listed below:
1. Demonstrated skill in leadership and management such as experience with project management, including personnel and financial management.
2. Skill in refined verbal, writing, and visual communication such as, advising senior governmental leaders and assessing and/or developing executive communication.
3. Ability to provide graduate-level professional military education and faculty development in an adult learning environment.
4. Interpersonal skills such as, working collegially with diverse (military, civilian, foreign) graduate students, faculty, staff, and administrators; professional network enabling access to academic institutions, think tanks, government agencies, senior military commands, non-governmental organizations, etc.
5. Demonstrated ability as an instructor, curriculum developer, instructional designer, and/or faculty developer, particularly at the graduate or executive level and preferably in a professional military education environment.
6. Ability to advise student and faculty research projects.
7. Academic Accomplishment: Graduate degree in communications or a field relating the curriculum of the Army War College is preferred. A terminal degree is preferred.
