About the Position: Maintenance Mechanic will be assigned to the Marietta Repair Station of the Regional Rivers Repair Fleet, Duty Station: Marietta, OH. Performs the duties of a journeyman Maintenance Mechanic which covers the full range of complex maintenance tasks requiring the application of journeyman level skills in a wide variety of trades and crafts. Such as: Machinery Repair, Carpentry, Sandblasting and Painting, Pipefitting, Equipment Operations, and Concrete Maintenance and Repair.

Help
  • Troubleshoot, locate and make basic repairs of electrical wiring, controls, equipment and fixtures.
  • Operate dump truck equipped with pintle hitch and pulling heavy equipment trailer (Combined weight over 26,000 pounds with trailer weight over 10,000 pounds).
  • Perform trade practices associated with carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, welding and other related trades.
  • Use hand tools and test equipment such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, soldering irons, test lamps, and ammeters.
  • Prepare water samples and submit to the proper state authorities for testing.
  • Administers and inspects contracts, drafts small maintenance and/or service contract specifications, tracks and performs preventative maintenance (PM), utilizes Corps and commercial computer programs to accomplish assigned tasks.

  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain all Corps of Engineers licenses associated with this position, includes but is not limited to Dump Truck, Truck and Trailer, Crane, Forklift, and Construction Equipment.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must possess a valid State motor vehicle operator's license.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Performing common electrical wiring, hydraulic systems, rough carpentry work, masonry work, plumbing systems, and roofing. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Works from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where areas are hard to reach. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing and may be performed in cramped positions, under equipment, structures, etc. Frequently required to lift and carry parts and items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in extremes of weather or inside shop and other buildings. Work involves walking and climbing steps, slopes and uneven surfaces. There is danger of injury such as cuts, burns, electrical shock and bruises while use of power tools and welding equipment. Strains from lifting or work in awkward positions, and danger of drowning while working in proximity of the water. must be capable or working in conditions of dust, welding fumes, paint vapors and sandblast particles utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment for those conditions which may be heavy and uncomfortable.
