The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Senior Tax Specialist in the Office of the Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy). Incumbent will perform duties in the Office of International Tax Counsel, who assists the Secretary and the Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy) in providing advice and technical expertise for the Treasury Department with regard to tax legislation, regulations and rulings. This position is used to bring senior level accountant expertise to the Office of Tax Policy.

In addition to the ECQs, applicants must possess the following technical qualifications that represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. MTQ 1: Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of the field of international taxation, and outstanding ability to analyze international taxation issues from an accounting, tax policy, and general public policy standpoint, including knowledge of international tax rules and regulations (including cross border M&A, inversions, previously taxed earnings and profits, and the corporate alternative minimum tax), fiscal transparency provisions in U.S. and foreign law, and the interests of the United States in tax policy negotiations in international organizations.
MTQ 2: Comprehensive understanding of the administrative guidance process, including the relationship between Treasury and the Internal Revenue Services. Significant experience detecting and analyzing the practical accounting implications of proposals to modify the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) and providing insights on such proposals.
