Open to current students accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree or certificate at an accredited educational institution on at least a half-time basis (as determined by the educational institution) and possess a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent.
The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
- Researching a variety of topics, including global market trends in key economic sectors, partner country procurement practices, U.S. industry competitiveness, regional and country-specific economic and development trends, and broader policy and trade issues.
- Conducting research and compiling background information on USTDA's prospective domestic and overseas partners.
- Analyzing sets of project data to assess key trends and patterns and providing written analysis of conclusions to inform region and sector planning efforts.
- Researching the outcomes of USTDA's funding, including the export of U.S. goods and services as well as development benefits realized by overseas grantees.
- Assisting with the drafting of memoranda and correspondence with stakeholders.
- Preparing background information and briefing materials for USTDA personnel.
- Assisting with planning and preparation for meetings and outreach with USTDA partners.
- Providing general administrative support.
Eligibility Requirements:
In order to be eligible for the Pathways Not-to-Exceed Internship Program, the following qualifications must be met:
*If you are currently enrolled, but in your last semester/quarter of completing your degree/certificate requirements, you must show proof of continued education such as an acceptance letter or you will be disqualified.
At the GS-4 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
Two years of education above the high school level (i.e. 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) or have an AA degree with major study in international affairs, international relations, or related.
At the GS-5 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
Completion of 4 academic years (120 semester hours) of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree with major study in international affairs, international relations, or related.
At the GS-7 level, you must meet one of the following qualifications:
Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree with major study in international affairs, international relations, or related.

Stipulations of Employment:
A Pathways Participant Agreement will be required if you are selected for a position. The agreement must be signed by all applicable parties prior to entrance on duty that sets forth the expectations for the Pathways Program.
The duration of an excepted service appointment in the Pathways Program is a trial period.
This is a temporary internship to complete project work that is temporary in nature. The appointment is not-to-exceed 1 year or less and can be extended without further competition based on the need of the organization for the work to continue and provided the individual continues to meet the Pathways eligibility requirements.
Must maintain half-time enrollment status and 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Student Status : Student Interns must continue to meet the Pathways Program requirements throughout the duration of the appointment. Incumbents will be required to provide proof of continued enrollment and good standing each semester or grading period throughout the internship program. Failure to do so will result in termination of the appointment.
You must maintain status as a current student while on this appointment. The anticipated start date of this position is June 3, 2024. You must meet the definition of a "student" currently and after this date to be eligible for hire. From the closing date of this vacancy announcement, applicants MUST have at least one year remaining in their required coursework for completion of their degree.
