This position is located with the WAATS in Red Rock, Arizona. The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operational readiness.

Military Grades: E-1/PVT to E-7/SFC
Compatible Military Assignments: 15 series MOS
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months of experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

Ability to make diagnoses and solve malfunctions of aircraft systems and components by utilizing a wide variety of complex, state of the art computerized and/or non-computerized Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE); by studying layout drawings, blueprints and wiring diagrams; and analyzing specifications and operating characteristics of aircraft and their components.
4. Knowledge in how to provide technical guidance and assistance to flight crews regarding observed discrepancies, experienced in-flight characteristics and system malfunctions.
5.Skill in planning, developing and conducting proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel.
