Qualification Requirements GS-05: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Specialized experience for this position includes: Performing mail duties such as receiving and sending mail (electronically or hard copy) for others; using basic knowledge of security principles (e.g., release of information under the Privacy Act, (PII) personally identifiable information) and concepts to independently carry out assignments; utilizing the internet to obtain information (e.g. navigating through websites and performing searches looking for specific information) for basic research; inputting and updating information into computer systems/databases to maintain records; using computer programs/software applications to perform daily work (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook); and communicating verbally and/or in writing with a diverse group of internal and external customers using proper format, grammar, and spelling.

You may qualify based on education as follows: Bachelor's Degree or completion of four years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university.
OR
You may qualify with a combination of experience and education equivalent to that as described above.
Qualification Requirements GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Performing mail duties for personnel security, maintaining electronic mailboxes to provide guidance and responses to questions, maintaining machines associated with mail functions and tracking, and updating personnel security databases and files. Experience reviewing and verifying the accuracy of background investigation data, organizing applications, and processing information; utilizing the internet to obtain background information for performing basic investigative matters (e.g., navigating through websites and performing searches looking for specific information); inputting investigative data and updating that information into computer systems/databases to maintain records; using computer programs/software applications to perform daily work (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook); knowledge of security principles, concepts, and methodologies to independently carry out assignments related to personnel security; basic knowledge of IRS, Treasury, and OPM regulations, and functions. Experience with oral and written communication including meeting and dealing with a diverse workgroup, preparing correspondence to customers (e.g., letters, memos, emails), and proofreading to ensure proper format, grammar, and spelling.
Qualification Requirements GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Performing mail duties such as receiving and sending mail for others; maintaining electronic mailboxes to provide guidance and responses to questions; maintaining personnel security databases; ensuring accuracy of information in personnel security automation systems; creating and updating security files; determining position risk levels on regular and recurring position descriptions. Experience utilizing the internet to obtain background information (e.g., navigating through websites and performing searches looking for specific information) for gathering investigative information and identifying problems from collected data; inputting investigative data and updating that information into computer systems/databases to maintain records; ensuring applications for background investigations are completed and are appropriate for the level of sensitivity required for the position; using computer programs/software applications to perform daily work (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook); knowledge of security principles, concepts, and methodologies to independently carry out assignments related to personnel security; basic knowledge of IRS, Treasury, and OPM regulations and functions. Experience with oral and written communication including meeting and dealing with a diverse workgroup, preparing correspondence to customers (e.g., letters, memos, emails), and proofreading to ensure proper format, grammar, and spelling.
AND
MEET TIME IN GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT: You must meet applicable TIG requirements to be considered eligible. To meet TIG for positions above the GS-05 grade level, you must have served at least one year (52 weeks) at the next lower grade (or equivalent) in the normal line of progression for the position you are applying to. Advancement to positions up to GS-05 is permitted if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade held within the preceding 52 weeks.
AND
TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: By the closing date (or if this is an open continuous announcement, by the cut-off date) specified in this job announcement, current civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since their latest non-temporary appointment from a competitive referral certificate, known as time after competitive appointment.
