This position is part of the Peace Corps Student Internship Program and is open to current students who are enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a qualifying educational institution and enrolled at least half-time. This public notice is to gather applications for the Peace Corps Student Internship Program that may or may not result in a referral or selection.
This position is established as a Legal Student Intern (Legal Intern) at Peace Corps Headquarters, in Washington DC and assigned to the Office of General Counsel (OGC). Legal Interns will join a team of highly dedicated and exceptionally skilled attorneys who are committed to the Peace Corps' mission of promoting world peace and friendship by supporting qualified U.S. men and women volunteers who serve in Africa, South America, Europe, and Asia. The Legal Intern will perform a variety of duties designed to increasingly develop and apply their knowledge of generally accepted principles, concepts, and practices while working under the guidance of the General Counsel, Associate General Counsels, and Experts. Undergraduate and Graduate Education:
You must be enrolled and seeking a degree in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis. You must have completed or will have completed 1 full academic years of law school by May 2024 for the FP-05 grade level.Official or Unofficial Transcripts must be submitted with your application and all Official Transcripts will be required before a final offer of employment can be extended.

This section prohibits the employment of certain persons previously engaged in intelligence activities or connected with intelligence agencies within the past 10 years. If you have ever worked for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), you are not eligible for employment at the Peace Corps in any capacity, and you should not apply for employment. Acceptance of employment with the Peace Corps precludes employment by certain intelligence organizations for a specific period of time, determined by the employing agency, after Peace Corps employment ceases.
Applicants who are found to be otherwise qualified will be required to submit upon request in the future a completed Intelligence Background Questionnaire, or narrative signed statement, indicating whether the applicant has been involved in or has had any connection with intelligence activities or related work and, if so, the nature and dates of their involvement. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the applicant being rated ineligible for further consideration.
