Duties
The Medical Staff Office is responsible for the C&P process of VAMC clinical services providers including full-time, part-time, temporary, intermittent, contract, without compensation (WOC), fee basis and telehealth Licensed Independent Providers (LIPs), as defined in the VAMC Medical Staff Bylaws. Some of the duties associated with this position includes, but are not limited to the following:
- Keeps leadership and administrative staff informed of program changes, new regulatory requirements, and policies and procedures.
- Assists in drafting local credentialing processes in compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Maintains confidentiality of information in accordance with the Privacy Act.
- Provides guidance and instruction to hospital staff in completing the required documentation of establishing privileges for Licensed Independent Providers.
- Responsible for collecting relevant data and making informed decisions.
- Develops and provides routine and special reports as requested.
- Enters data into an electronic credentials computer system.
- Investigates all discrepancies to determine the accuracy of documentation.
- Receives and reviews reports detecting problem areas requiring further investigation.
- Assures application packages and other documents meet technical requirements per specialty of provider and assures application folder and database account.
- Provides quality control checks on data.
- Prepares agendas for meetings and ensures those involved are notified of expectations.
- Provides assistance and training to providers, staff and management.
- Advises and consults on credentialing and clinical privileging for the organization.
