Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Researches, develops and presents formal talks and tours at Gateway Arch National Park. Design and Develops Interpretive programs using thematic framework, goals, objectives and applied techniques at a historic site based on general knowledge of American history and research. Presents reports and maintains cooperative working relationships with visitors, co-workers, and supervisors through effective oral communication. Writes and edits reports, responses, and program needs to supervisors and park managers. Provides information and orientation to park visitors acting as a front-line interpreter. Use various audio visional equipment, computers and software in conducting interpretive programs and research. Ability to work in compliance with applicable standard operating procedures. At fullest potential level may conduct task as an Acting Supervisor responsible for but not limited to preparing reports and schedules, coordinating special events and purchases and supervising employees.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires may be at different interior levels of the 630-foot Gateway Arch. The work requires some physical exertion and can involve extensive periods of standing and walking, in some cases over rough surfaces or inclines outdoors or in caves, and carrying backpacks, tools, rescue equipment, or other loads. Some employees may engage in firefighting, search and rescue, and other strenuous activities, these employees may be required to lift or carry equipment weighing more than 50 pounds over long distances. Employees who participate in all-risk operations will be required to meet fitness requirements on a continuing basis.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work can include moderate risks or discomforts that require safety precautions (e.g., exposure to extreme temperatures, climates, rough terrain, wild animals, pest, and/or insects). The incumbent may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, boots, gloves, etc. Some employees may be engaged in all-risk operations and be exposed to high risk and potentially dangerous situations which require a range of safety and other precautions. The incumbent will work at the top of the Arch observation deck located at 630 ft and in enclosed space. In case of emergency, you will be required to walk down 1076 steps or 63 flights of stairs.

Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/30/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. Review all instructions prior to beginning your assessments. You will have the opportunity to request a testing accommodation before beginning the assessments should you have a disability covered under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended.
Set aside at least 3 hours to take the USA Hire assessments; however, most applicants complete the assessments in less time. If you need to stop the assessments and continue later, you can re-use your unique assessment link.
Your responses to the USA Hire Assessments will be reused for one year (in most cases) from the date you complete an assessment. If future applications you submit require completion of the same assessments, your responses will be automatically reused.
Applicants may not update assessment responses after submitting an application at any time during the announcement open period, however, applicants will be able to update the other portions of the application such as eligibilities and supporting documents.
