The Division of Engineering Education and Centers (EEC) invests in the creation of 21st century engineers and the discovery of new technologies through transformational center-based research, research in engineering education and broadening participation, and research opportunities for students and teachers. As such EEC supports convergence research across all engineering disciplines organized in four clusters. These are: Centers and Networks that engage and stimulate visionary, large-scale, multidisciplinary engineering convergent research, education, and technology translation to solve engineering grand challenges and launch new industries, anchored on an effective team-approach; Engineering Education encourages educational research to create and support an innovative and inclusive technical workforce for the future; Broadening Participation in Engineering enhances the inclusion and participation in engineering by addressing structural inequalities and biases within educational and workforce systems; and Engineering Workforce Development supports pilot initiatives and provides meaningful research experiences that provide insights into engineering and computer science concepts, innovations, and careers.
As the Division Director for EEC, the incumbent will serve as a member of the Directorate for Engineering Senior Management team. Responsibilities include:

The position recruited under this announcement will be filled under the following appointment option:
Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) Assignment: Individuals eligible for an IPA assignment with a Federal agency include employees of State and local government agencies or institutions of higher education, Indian tribal governments, and other eligible organizations in instances where such assignments would be of mutual benefit to the organizations involved. Initial assignments under IPA provisions may be made for a period up to two years, with a possible extension for up to an additional two-year period. The individual remains an employee of the home institution and NSF provides the negotiated funding toward the assignee's salary and benefits. Initial IPA assignments are made for a one-year period and may be extended by mutual agreement.
Salary: The salary noted above is based on the rate of pay for Federal Division Directors. The IPA assignment salary is based on the current salary at the IPA's home institution.
This is a rotator position.
