The candidate selected will be offered a time limited appointment not-to-exceed two years, which may be extended to a maximum of seven years based on workload requirements and organizational staffing authorizations.

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 12 level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing income tax duties for financial institutions, including (1) the review or preparation of income tax returns and claims for refund; (2) represent taxpayers with income tax audits or represent a government tax agency in connection with income tax audits; (3) conducting income tax research; and (4) applying income tax law.
There is no substitution of education for the experience for this position.
This position is currently eligible for the Remote Work Option (RWO), which is explained here.
If electing the Remote Work Option, the duty location is set using the selectee’s primary residence, which must be in the continental United States. Locality pay will be based on the location of the selectee’s primary residence.
The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 11.74% to a high of 50.45%.
