USGS has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework in accordance with the DOI Telework policy and with supervisor approval. 1. Knowledge and research in multiple aspects of geomagnetic science, possibly including the Earth's magnetic field, planetary magnetism, geo-electromagnetic hazards, space weather, and/or the Earth's electrical conductivity structure. In original text, briefly, summarize your knowledge, and how you acquired it. In original text, and in specific terms that avoid generalities, describe your research results, including the specific significance and usefulness of your research.
2. Experience in managing a research project, either a solo project or a multi-person project. Describe your specific role in conceiving the project, defining the scope of the project, conducting the project, and bringing it to completion. Describe a specific challenge (of any type) you encountered in accomplishing an aspect of the project and describe specifically how you addressed the challenge.
3. Familiarity with quantitative analysis of data. Demonstrated experience with mathematics, time-series analysis, spatial analysis, statistical analysis, and modern numerical methods, and the development or leveraging of quantitative methods to creatively interrogate data sets in novel ways in order to obtain new and interpretable and physically meaningful results. Specify your creativity and skills, including programing skills, and clarify your role in any multi-person investigations or studies.
4. Ability to communicate research results and interpretations to colleagues, non-scientists and the general public. This includes presentation of research results and technical materials to technical and non-technical audience including both oral and written forms of communication via presentations at scientific or technical meetings, technical committee work, and communications to the media and general public. Please document your level of experience in presenting research results and technical materials to technical and non-technical audiences; consider both oral and written forms of communication.
