Serve as NIU's Provost and Chief Academic Officer, overseeing the College of Strategic Intelligence, the Oettinger School of Science and Technology Intelligence, and the Office of the Provost. Provide academic advice to the President to ensure that the educational programs, curricula, and instructional methodologies advance the university's mission. Serve as a member of NIU's executive leadership team.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Establish academic policies and practices with the concurrence of the President.
Assess the effectiveness of the academic curriculum in meeting student and stakeholder needs and adjust as needed.
Introduce innovative new educational methods to enhance the student experience.
Facilitate NIU's efforts to maintain accreditation through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Joint Chiefs of Staff J-7.
Recruit and empower a diverse and talented faculty that provides world class instruction.
Perform personnel management responsibilities with a focus on building a high-performance workforce; promote team building and a collaborative work environment; ensure goals and performance objectives are understood; assess performance and provide timely feedback, recognition, and remediation.
Chair the NIU Education Council and Academic Affairs Committee to drive full participation and transparency across academic programs.
Support the development and implementation of NIU's strategic plan.
Collaborate with NIU's research and engagement activities to maximize effectiveness.
Develop and oversee the Office of the Provost budget to ensure resources are available and aligned to the highest academic priorities.
Recommend improvements to academic business practices and tools to increase efficiency.
Oversee NIU's global campus and continuously evaluate how the institution can better meet student needs around the world.
Oversee a comprehensive alumni engagement plan to improve the student learning experience.

Job Interview Travel: Candidates from outside the Washington, D.C., area may be selected for a telephone, teleconference, or in-person interview.
Salary Determination:
The ODNI uses a rank-in-person system in which rank is attached to GS employees on the basis of individual qualifications, experience, and performance.
Individuals whose current GS grade is equivalent to the grade of the advertised position will retain their current grade and step.
Individuals who transfer to the ODNI from a non-GS pay scale will have base pay converted to the appropriate GS grade and step as determined by the Director/ Human Resource Management.
On occasional instances when a current federal civilian employee applies for an ODNI position that is a lower grade than his or her personal grade, the candidate's personal grade will be downgraded to the grade of the advertised ODNI position and pay will be set at the step that is closest to but not less than the employee's current annual base rate of pay, not to exceed the maximum rate (i.e., step 10) of the GS grade to which assigned.
Relocation Expenses: For new ODNI employees, reimbursement for relocation is discretionary based on availability of funds.
