A Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for a Federal employee when the employee must move, as directed by the National Park Service (NPS) either through a management directed reassignment or selection for employment, to a different location at least 50 miles away from the one where his/her position of record held at time of selection is currently located, due to a need of the NPS. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another.
Nongovernment housing: may be available for rent or purchase in the local communities of Groveland, Mariposa, Midpines, Bootjack, Oakhurst, and Catheys Valley. El Portal is a small community bordering the west side of Yosemite National Park and 15 miles west of Yosemite Valley.
Physical Demands: Regularly lifts, carries and handles items weighing up to 50 pounds. Uses mechanical equipment to handle heavy items (over 50 pounds) Works in uncomfortable position for extended periods. There is frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching and stooping. Extreme effort is occasionally required in the operation of large hand tools.
Backcountry positions: Ability to work at elevations up to 11,000 feet and hike up to 15 miles. Position works with livestock.
Working Conditions: The incumbent services numerous widely separated treatment facilities and/or utility systems. May he exposed to the possibility of burns, scrapes and infection. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals. The incumbent may be required to work in adverse weather conditions in temperatures from zero to 120 degrees F. and at elevations from 1,500 to 9,000 ft.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are not suitable for telework.
