Peer Specialists within the Veterans Crisis Line (VCL) deliver best practices of the peer support model over the telephone and other platforms, performing a variety of supportive tasks assisting Veterans in achieving their goals for recovery, learning/practicing new skills, helping monitor their progress, assisting them in their treatment, and modeling effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on the their own recovery experience.
