Help

The NIST Center for Neutron Research is regarded as a world class, major national user facility with merit-based access made available to the entire U.S. technological community. Each year, approximately 2000 research participants from government, industry, and academia from all areas of the country are served by the facility.

Plan and execute the NCNR Reactor Training Program and have responsibility for creating, implementing and developing new methods, processes, and training materials involved in reactor operations and engineering. This program contains multiple subprograms. Those programs include but are not limited to initial reactor operator licensing, continuing education, reactor operator requalification, records management, etc. This position administers and develops programs in support of the NIST mission and involves project planning and to ensure conformance to nuclear industry standards and best practices. Reviewing and tracking internal and external policies that have an impact on the programs goals.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements for ZA-III: To qualify at the ZA-III level, you must have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level (ZA-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience assisting in the development and implementation of a nuclear training program in accordance with ANSI 15.4 guidelines and reactor theory principles. Experience with nuclear reactor operations to apply specific operating and maintenance procedures. Interpreting and applying guidelines and requirements of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to obtain the license that the operators must be to operate the reactor for reactor operator licensing and maintain compliance

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application. The qualification requirements in this vacancy announcement are based on the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook.
