Duties

Help

As a Deputy Chief Financial Officer, GS-501-15, your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Reviews and contributes to plans and justifications for ARPA-H annual, midyear, and unfunded budget submissions and may represent ARPA-H at budget meetings with HHS, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and the Congress.
  • Serves as an ARPA-H focal point for the analysis, interpretation, and impact assessment of OMB, HHS, and NIH budgetary polices and directives, and congressional authorizing and appropriating legislation including committee reports.
  • Develops general objectives and performance standards for the ARPA-H automated accounting system. Monitors analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of the system in meeting ARPA-H's financial accounting needs and the requirements of OMB and GAO. Ensures that system is compatible with related ARPA-H automated systems, and that systems development activities are coordinated with the Center for Information Technology, NIH.
  • Directs the preparation and publication of all required financial reports, including audited financial statements.
  • Oversees and conducts special studies, surveys and projects needed to improve the effectiveness of the financial accounting system.
  • Supervises a staff of government employees and contractors including workforce planning and assignment of work through subordinate supervisors.

You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet the following qualification requirement:

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Planning, directing, and coordinating the financial and budgetary activities of a program or organization; developing financial data systems for an organization; analyzing new or revised legislation for its impact on budget and financial programs or procedures; and advising managers and senior staff on matters having grant, financial, or budgetary implications.
