As a Supervisory Chemist (National Water Quality Laboratory Assistant Chief ) within the Laboratory and Analytical Services Division (LASD) of the Water Mission Area (WMA), some of your duties will include:
Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Work is performed both in a laboratory and office setting. The position is regularly made more difficult by the need to make provision for significant unsafe or hazardous conditions occurring during performance of work; and control, maintain custody of, safeguard, transport and/or dispose of hazardous materials. Proper personal protective equipment is required when entering laboratory area.
Key Requirements:
BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: You must meet A or B below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Chemist.
A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours or the equivalent in physics.In addition to the basic education requirement as stated above, applicants must have one year of appropriate professional experience in chemistry that is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service.
