You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of NIST radio station WWVH, and work to develop plans for station maintenance, with the goal of improve the station's operation, performance, and reliability. This responsibility includes the operation of four radio transmission systems (2.5, 5, 10, and 15 MHz) that are expected to be on the air 99.7% of the time in accordance with the NIST quality system. You will supervise one or more electronic technicians, will design and fabricate circuits and systems as necessary to improve station operation, will troubleshoot and correct problems in station subsystems whenever necessary to maintain reliability, will identify needs and propose plans to ensure effective operations of the station under emergency conditions, will maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff members, and will ensure that the frequency and time signals disseminated by WWVH are within their published performance specifications. You will communicate regularly and effectively with the NIST Time and Frequency division in Boulder, supplying reports and other information as necessary, and will also communicate regularly and effectively with listeners and users of the WWVH broadcasts. Whenever necessary, you will be required to work outside of normal hours to attend to station problems and keep the broadcasts continuously on the air.
