MAJOR DUTIES
1. On a recurring basis, operates farm-type tractors and towed or attached equipment to maintain grounds and road medians and/or perform farming functions.
2. The incumbent frequently operates towed or attached equipment from the seat of the tractor through hydraulic or mechanical controls.
3. Equipment operated may include mowers, weed eaters, chippers, sprayers, post hole diggers, front-end loading devices, movable dozer blades, harrows and backhoes.
4. This equipment may be powered by direct drive or a power takeoff.
5. Work may involve making multiple mechanical and hydraulic connections between the towed or attached equipment and the tractor and make numerous equipment adjustments. Incumbent works on level or rolling terrain in such areas as open fields, parks, lawns, and along roadways.
6. As required, uses auger when needed to bore holes. Pulls plowing harrows, to break dirt crust as needed. May level ground to give an even grade within boundaries as required.

Park headquarters is located in the small city of Fritch, population approximately 2,300. Cost of living is considered low. Rental opportunities are available in the local commuting areas of Fritch, Borger, Stinnett, Panhandle and Amarillo at varying prices and quality. A Variety of restaurants, financial institutions and grocery stores are all available within a short distance. Amarillo is a 40-minute drive, which offers the closest airport, shopping, etc. The city of Borger is a short 10 minute drive with grocery stores, movie theater, etc., and the closest Walmart. We're 3 hours to Lubbock, 4 hours to Santa Fe, 5 hours to Albuquerque or Oklahoma City and 6 hours to Dallas or Denver. The elevation averages 3,000 feet. The climate is semi-arid with average precipitation of 21 inches. The average temperature is 58 decrees with summer extremes in the 100-decree ranges and winter extremes around 0 degrees. Tornados are a potential danger, and high velocity winds are common in spring and early summer. Park housing is not available.
